Preschool Program – Carnu’s Kids offers a preschool program for 4 and 5 year olds that are already enrolled at the daycare. Weekly progress reports will be sent home describing educational, social, and physical progress along with comments about any problems and personal goals. Weekly themes will be supplemented with focused educational learning by using flash cards, workbooks, writing journals, computer lessons, field trips, and desk style learning. In the unlikely event that your child is developmentally behind, we will have a parent-teacher conference to discuss their future at a specialized facility. These services require low teacher to children ratios with specialized training. We are not large enough or equipped with special education to offer specialized services to those in need.
Schedule – We keep a regular schedule so both you and your child know what to expect. We suggest you keep a normal routine at home also. Consistency is the best tool to keep your children happy and healthy. If you will be arriving 10 minutes later than normal in the morning or evening please call and let us know.

Scheduled Holidays – There are ten scheduled holidays and two weeks in which we will not be open. Those holidays are as follows: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and the following Friday. If one of these scheduled closing days falls on a Saturday or Sunday, Carnu’s Kids might be closed the preceding Friday or the following Monday. Carnu’s Kids will be closed the week between Christmas and New Year’s and for a week in the summer. Please see our annual calendar for specific dates. These holidays are part of the annual school calendar and no tuition credit is allowed for these scheduled holidays. Please check your journal, newsletter, schedule or website for actual dates closed.
Sick Days – Scheduled tuition payments are due and payable regardless of the actual number of days your child has attended each week. This is due to the fact that our expenses remain the same, regardless of student attendance. Exceptions will be made under special circumstances. Tuition is to be paid on the due date even if your child is out sick. For this reason we do accept checks early and will not deposit them until the due date.
Vacation Policy – The monthly fee is due regularly on the 1st or 15th of each month regardless of scheduled vacations. Please provide two weeks notice for all scheduled vacations.
School Closing – We follow the North Penn School District snow closing and delays. We will send out an e-mail and post-it on the website if we are closed due to weather. You will be notified if a special circumstance requires the school to close.
Play – We love to go outside! We make every effort to play outside every day, weather permitting. Please understand your child may get dirty while playing. If you are going out after picking your child up, please provide clothes for your child to be changed into. Please provide appropriate clothes to wear outside including jackets and shoes.
Health – Any child who runs a fever of 100 degrees and above, vomits, or has loose bowel movements will be excused from day care. A child that is excused from daycare due to these symptoms may not return to daycare for 24 hours. Any child 3 years of age or older who has a bowel movement in their pants will be excused from daycare for the day. Any child 4 years of age or older who has an accident in their pants will be excused from daycare for the day. Please encourage, as we do, your child to wash their hands before and after eating meals, after sneezing or coughing, after playing with animals, playing outside, and after using the bathroom or a diaper change to prevent the spread of disease. We provide tissues and hand sanitizer.
Clothing – The parent(s) shall dress their child in seasonally appropriate clothing and provide 2 full sets of extra clothing in case of an accident. For children 1 to 5 years old please supply a standard sized backpack to provide items important for your child’s daily activities. For infants please supply a backpack or diaper bag to provide items important for your child's daily activities. Each child should have their own backpack/diaper bag. Items in their bag can include their journal, artwork, worksheets, dirty clothes, pictures, lunchbox, newsletter, to-go-home-in clothes and personal items like pacifiers and baby blankets.
